On Quiet Utility

The interfaces we trust most are the ones that ask least of us. A spreadsheet that just opens. A terminal that prints what it’s doing. A dashboard that fades into the wall until something changes.

We’ve been thinking lately about what it would mean to design every product this way — as if the highest compliment a tool can receive is to be ignored.
